Standardized TIM PM dashboards, a result of multiple efforts including the Development of a Statewide Pilot Project for Standardized TIM Performance Measurement and Reporting (Nevada DOT) and the EDC-4 Using Data to Improve TIM innovation

The objective of this ongoing TRB project is to demonstrate the feasibility and practical value of big data approaches. The goal is to improve TIM via real-world application of the Research Report 904 guidelines with selected states and TIM use cases.

NCHRP Research Report 904 provides guidelines for states on leveraging a big data approach, including collecting and storing more (and raw) data, opening and sharing data, breaking down data silos via a common data storage environment, and maintaining data accessibility, amongst others.

The Nevada Department of Transportation sponsored a project to benchmark its TIM data practices against the practices of other leading states and against the NCHRP Project 07-20 guidance.

In 2019, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) conducted a study to investigate the tools and data needed to support the development of a standardized system to gather all TIM data and report on the three national TIM performance measures statewide.

The FHWA Every Day Counts Round 4 (EDC-4) Using Data to Improve TIM innovation continued the TIM data efforts with the objectives of increasing the quantity, quality, and use of data for TIM performance measurement and analysis.

NCHRP 07-20 Guidance for Implementation of TIM Performance Measurement provides guidance on the consistent use and application of TIM performance measures in support of the overall efforts of TIM program assessment.

This report provides a review of several implementations of ICM and documents lessons learned and best practices.

The University of California, Berkeley Partners for Advanced Transportation Technology (PATH) and Caltrans have developed an open source architecture for an ICM Data Hub for the I-210 Pilot project.
