The Transit ITS Data Exchange Specification (TIDES) is a conceptual framework for accessing and managing transit agency ITS data. TIDES includes a set of common data APIs that provide access to the different aspects of ITS data (e.g., raw data from vendor systems, secondary data sources that integrate and aggregate the ITS data). It also contains a set of common database structures for integrated and aggregated ITS data and a set of data processors that can apply a range of data integration, data quality, and data aggregation logic to an agency’s ITS data. In much the same way that the GTFS has revolutionized the way transit agencies manage, exchange, and use transit schedule data, the goal of TIDES is to do the same for the management, exchange, and use of transit ITS data (Levin, Establishing a Transit ITS Data Exchange Specification). 1
